Henna Aftercare

To achieve the longest lasting and darkest stains, we recommend the following:

  • Leave your paste on the skin for as long as possible!  The longer the paste is left in contact with the skin, the more opportunity for staining!

  • Before going to bed, remove any remaining paste by gently scraping it off.

  • Do not use soap or water on the stained area.

  • Exfoliation of the stained area will cause your stain to fade.

  • Avoid soaking your skin in pools, hot tubs, or scrubbing.

  • It may help to use an oil or cream on the skin before water contact.

Our Henna Paste

Our Henna is homemade using freshly harvested henna leaves, ground into a fine powder.  We mix our paste with lemon juice and natural essential oils.

Henna Application

Your artist will apply the henna paste using a little bottle, or a cellophane cone.  The styles of your design are a matter of preference.  There's inspiration to be found in all areas of the world.

Skin Stain

When your henna is first applied (pinky finger), it will appear brown, and raised on the skin.  Be careful during this stage not to smudge or remove too early.  The ring finger shows what the henna stain will look like after paste removal.  It should be an orange-y stain.  After about 24 hours, the henna stain will develop darker, as the henna oxidizes (middle finger).  The tips of your fingers, palms and bottoms of feet will always oxidize the most, with an almost "ombre" effect as the design travels up the arm or leg.
